The ICY-DOCK ToughArmor MB852M2PO-B replaces the old CD/DVD ROM with 2 x high-speed NVMe M.2 SSDs. It fits into the Ultra-Slim 9.5mm optical disk array (ODD) and uses removable M.2 platters for effortless disk access and maintenance. It is the perfect storage upgrade solution for custom industrial PCs, rackmount servers and embedded systems. The ToughArmor MB852M2PO-B’s interchangeable M.2 drive trays allow you to easily access drives from your system’s ultra-slim front optical drive bay without opening the computer case. To support M.2 22110 SSDs, the length of the MB852M2PO-B is longer than the standard Ultra-Slim outer diameter (159.3mm). The ToughArmor MB852M2PO-B is designed with an adjustable M.2 tray that allows for tool-free drive installation and removal. Simply insert M.2 SSDs (2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110).
To fully utilize the speeds of the M.2 NVMe SSDs, each drive bay in the MB852M2PO-B uses its own PCIe Gen 4 OCuLink (SFF-8612) connection and supports data transfer speeds of up to 64GB/s, which is up to 2 times faster than PCIe 3.0 and 10 times faster than the SATA interface.
Finally, to prevent overheating, the platter is made of metal which acts as a heat sink. Heat is dissipated through large openings on the top and bottom of the MB852M2PO-B. For even greater efficiency, a thermal pad is included. It fills the gap between the contact surface and transfers the heat from the M.2 SSD to the larger surface of the metal cover, allowing the airflow to dissipate the heat quickly.
