Discover multi-camera production
The Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro makes it easy to create professional multi-camera productions for streaming. Simple to set up, connect any of your 4 possible sources to one of the ATEM Mini Pro’s HDMI ports to get the highest quality images. What’s more, it also allows you to record directly to USB drives in H.264 and stream live to YouTube Live. Not only that, but the unit also features a multiview screen and Program/Preview switching mode. It also displays the status of recording, streaming and audio.
Live streaming
The ATEM Mini Pro includes a built-in streaming feature for live streaming via its Ethernet connection. This means you can stream live content to YouTube, Facebook and Twitch in optimised quality, with no frame loss and simplified settings. Simply select the streaming service and enter the stream key. The ATEM Software Control includes palettes for stream settings and status.
In addition, the stream status is also displayed on the multi view. It is easy to understand because the data rate indicator shows the internet rate required for the video format you are using. Experienced users can also edit the detailed stream profiles in the XML file and load new services.
Easily record your content
ATEM Mini Pro also supports recording your stream to USB flash drives in H.264. This means you can make very long recordings of the same H.264 video files with AAC audio used for streaming, and then upload them directly to any online video site, such as YouTube or Vimeo.
The ATEM Mini Pro supports recording to multiple drives with a USB hub or Blackmagic MultiDock. This means that when one drive is full, recording continues on the second. Recording settings and disk selection are made from the ATEM Software Control and the recording status is displayed on the built-in multi view. You can even trigger recording to external Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras.
True M/E broadcast switching
Although the ATEM Mini Pro is initially set up in ‘Cut bus’ mode, you can choose to use ‘Program/Preview’ mode. This is the most common operating mode for live production. Cut bus switching is easy, as any selected input is instantly broadcast on air.
However, if you want to operate the ATEM Mini Pro professionally, choose the Program/Preview switching mode in the ATEM Software Control. In this mode, the selected source is not sent directly to the air. You will need to press the Cut or Auto button for it to be broadcast. This two-step procedure prevents unfortunate mistakes. With the Program/Preview mode, students can get used to the demands of a broadcast workflow without stress.
Control sources and status on the multiview
When working on live programmes with multiple cameras, it is useful to be able to view all video sources at the same time. The ATEM Mini Pro offers a professional multi view option that allows you to view all four video inputs, as well as preview and schedule images on a single HDMI monitor. Simply press M/V on the front panel to select multi view.
Each window includes a tally light to indicate which source is on, as well as custom labels and meters. You can also access the media player to see which graphic is selected. In addition, these windows display the status of the Fairlight recording, streaming, and audio mixer.
ATEM Software Control
The free ATEM Software Control software for Mac and Windows gives you full control over the functionality of the ATEM Mini Pro mixer. Its intuitive interface displays mixer settings in paddles for quick adjustments. Although it usually connects via USB, it can also be connected via Ethernet to connect multiple users to the ATEM Mini from different computers.
With this software, you can mix audio with effects, load still images and even program advanced macros. It is also possible to save the mixer status as XML files. In addition, if you need to play clips, you can control HyperDeck disk recorders via Ethernet.
