Easily add 5 more drive bays to a Synology DiskStation. With support for 2.5 inch and 3.5″ SATA drives, the DX517 is a flexible solution that can support on-the-fly volume expansion as well as serve as a local backup destination.
Online Volume Expansion
The DX517’s additional bays, managed from DiskStation Manager on the host NAS, are immediately ready for use upon login. On-the-fly volume expansion ensures that storage and services are not interrupted during volume expansion.
Hot-swappable disk tray design
The DX517’s hot-swappable disk trays allow for easy installation and replacement of disks without having to power down the system. The screwless disk tray design reduces system installation time.
A dedicated local backup solution
The Synology DX517 can be used as a dedicated local backup solution for the Synology DiskStation. When created as a separate volume, the DX517 provides a very useful backup solution to its local disks in case of system failure.
